Spark Plug Grease

Spark plug grease, also known as dielectric grease, is a silicone-based compound used to protect spark plug connections from moisture, dirt, and corrosion. It ensures a strong electrical connection by preventing voltage leaks and arcing in high-voltage ignition systems. Applied to the inside of the spark plug boot, not the spark plug threads, it helps make removal easier and prevents the rubber from sticking or tearing. This grease is non-conductive, meaning it won’t interfere with the electrical flow. It’s especially useful in extreme weather conditions, helping to maintain reliable engine performance. Though not always mandatory, it is recommended by many mechanics for long-term maintenance. Overapplication should be avoided, as it can interfere with the ignition system. Proper use extends the life of spark plug wires and boots.
